Finland in Australia

An estimated 30 000 people of Finnish descent live in Australia. Most of them live in and around Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.

Finns are often known for being active members of associations.  There are several Finnish clubs and societies in Australia, with the Australasian Federation of Finnish Societies and Clubs (ASL) as their umbrella organization. Finnish churches have pastors in different parts of the country. Finnish schools operate in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane. The schools familiarise children and young people with the Finnish language and culture.

Approximately 40 Finnish businesses operate or have their own offices in Australia. In addition, more than100 Finnish enterprises have Australian representatives.
