
In Australia and New Zealand the Application for Finnish passports must be submitted in person (including children) to the Consulate of Finland in Sydney. Honorary Consuls cannot accept biometric passport applications.
The passport fee is payable upon applying in cash or by cheque. The average processing time for passport applications is 3-4 weeks.

Before applying for the new biometric passport at the consulate, check your personal information at the Finnish Population Register Centre. It is of utmost importance that the applicant's personal data (name, place of birth, citizenship) in the Population Information System are up-to-date since the application form for the biometric passport will be printed directly from the register.
Applicants with dual/multi citizenship will have to prove that they have retained/will retain their Finnish citizenship after the age of 22.
Applicants of military service age (18-30 years) should present proof of military service or an exemption document from the Finnish Defence Forces.
The Consulate will accept passport applications from Monday to Friday between 9.00 AM and 12.30 PM.
